Dr. Garfield Piccott is a former economic diplomat turned corporate finance advisor, based in Doha, with nearly two decades’ experience at the intersection of Gulf capital, technology, media and public policy. He is currently establishing a boutique corporate finance platform that sources, diligences and structures high-signal opportunities for sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors and leading family offices.

 

Garfield’s advisory work builds on a career spanning government, strategy and investor relations. At Global Counsel he led work on investment due diligence and VIP investor relations, advising senior decision-makers – including the Qatar Prime Minister’s Office – on national development, innovation and inward investment strategies.

 

Previously, Garfield served as Commercial Attaché at the British Embassy in Qatar, representing the UK as an economic diplomat and brokering relationships between governments, sovereign funds and global corporates across sectors such as healthcare, education and advanced industries. Earlier in his career, he worked for the Minister of Finance in British Columbia, supporting fiscal and policy decision-making in a complex, multi-billion-dollar environment.

 

Most recently, he has helped develop advanced industry ecosystems for a flagship Public Investment Fund (PIF) portfolio company in Saudi Arabia, with a focus on robotics, automation and high-tech manufacturing. He pairs this practitioner experience with a Global Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) focused on innovation and investment ecosystems in the Gulf.
